Coming Together in Times of Need

Giving back has always been part of our philosophy at Manzer’s. In 2020, a challenging year for many, our company’s founder, Chappy Manzer, made a heroic effort to help our community while continuing to serve customers with their landscaping projects. Whether he’s adding a new boxwood hedge to a backyard, creating a comprehensive outdoor living space, or lending his time to a community effort, Chappy is continuously being of service to others.

Community Involvement

At Manzer's, we are proud to be active members of our community, donating our time and labor to areas in need of landscaping assistance. We will continue with our efforts to help the community grow whenever possible.

Promoting Education in Our Community

To support students in our community, we jumped at the chance to volunteer for the 2021 City of Peekskill Back to School Supply Giveaway. Manzer’s donated backpacks filled with school supplies and helped with distribution as students prepared for the 2021/2022 school year.

DOWNTOWN PEEKSKILL REVITALIZATION IN HONOR OF CHRISTINA RASBECK

Springtime will be even more beautiful in downtown Peekskill, thanks to Manzer’s Landscape. Chappy Manzer is spearheading a program to plant 100 trees over 10 years in downtown Peekskill, starting with the planting of five cherry blossom trees and six maple trees along N. Division Street in 2021.

In September 2021, the first 11 of 100 trees were planted along North Division Street in honor of Christina Rasbeck, Chappy Manzer’s mother, who passed away in 2019. After a special ceremony, Chappy was quoted in the River Journal: “As our climate continues to change, it is important that we plant trees to improve our environment, while also beautifying the City of Peekskill.” Six Armstrong Maple trees and five Kwanzan Cherry trees were planted, with the rest slotted for planting over the next nine years.

A major revitalization is underway for this area of Peekskill, and Manzer’s is proud to be a part of it, by providing both labor and materials whenever we can.

9/11 Memorial Revitalization Project

In 2010, Manzer’s was asked to landscape the Peekskill Riverfront 9/11 Memorial dedication. Approached in 2021 for the 20-year commemoration in hopes of revitalizing the site, Manzer’s donated our time and materials to help these community efforts. By planting fresh perennials, adding new mulch, and trimming back plants from existing walkways, we provided this memorial with a much-needed update so that community members can fully access and appreciate the space.
